Default 2007-08 vs 2009 Road King

I getting ready to sell my Hayabusa and buy a Road King or Street Glide. I've been seeing some good deals on 2007/08 roadkings, but I really want to know if buying a 07/08 and saving some bucks to customize is worth the price difference in buying a new 09. I love the 09 but this is my first Harley. I plan on doing 21/18 wheels and custom bags etc...

The 09 has been re-designed. You also have the option for ABS on the 09, and I am not sure if that is an option for the 07 or 08. Some have said the 09 doesn't get as hot as the 08's. Can't say for sure, but I have seen many threads talking about the big change.

I asked the same question when I was looking for my bike, and just about everyone said spend the extra grand or two and get the 09. Hope that helped some.

I'd go 09 all the way. Fewest complaints on a new bike than I've seen for a while.
From most accounts the 09s handle like a dream. You might not want to change the wheels.

Well went an 08 myself because saved 5K doing so but still sometimes wish had went with the 09 SG but overall no regrets for getting the 08 EGS can doi a lot of Mods your own way with 5K ... By the way were some nice frame changes for the 09 but could also get ABS for the 08 and 08's are also Throttle By Wire .. seen a few posts this was not available for 08 which is incorrect.. Regardless enjoy your new ride whatever you decide..

If you can afford the '09, in my opinion, you should go for that. Might take a little more time to afford the bling, but from everything I've read/heard the '09's are the best handling and most trouble-free and reliable dressers that the MOCO has produced since they went to the twin cam engines. Only took 'em 10 years to get it right. I'm sure they'll find some way to f**k them up next year! They ALWAYS do!

Good luck,

John

My 07 is great but if I were buying today I would get the latest greatest. Go for the 09; infact you should try to find out what changes will be on the 2010! I don't know bikes well enough to see differences between the years like cars were from '67 to '68 but if I were getting one today I sure would try to find out what's going on.

I'm with him. Used to love my ol' RKC and upgraded to '09 Ultra...Loving it even more. Don't know what I'll do next if I need to upgrade to another new bike in a few years.

Go '09,

Thorey

I traded in an 07 Ultra for an 09 last September, and couldn't be happier with my decision. The bike really does ride that much better. In 08 they came out with the ABS option, which is a must have in my opinion.

So... get the 09 if you can afford it. If not, there are some really great deals on the older bikes right now. I went by the dealer yesterday, and they still have my 07 for sale, along with a bunch of other used bikes.

My 09 FLHT is my first bagger so I can't comment on the earlier ones. But my friends all have earlier ones and they are envious. There are well over 100 changes to the 09's.
Here's a video on the H-D website that gives a little over view on the 09's.
