Default Question regarding eliminating one front rotor.

I am thinking about going for the single caliper up front. Do you need to replace lower leg or is that one used, and the master cylinder, does that need to be changed. Any negative points on doing this.

You can replace the lower leg or have a machinist put it in a lath and turn it down so the mounting tabs for the caliper are not there. You will need to change the bake resivor on the handlebars. The dual brake set up is 11/16 bore you will need a 9/16 bore. Hope this helps.

Out of curiosity , why do you want to get closer to the bus in a panic stop?

Cool

I have to agree with the last post, You have a big heavy bike, Why would you want to remove one rotor? You will increase the chance of front wheel lock up, loose alot of brake feel and probably increase your stopping distance considerably.

I was hesitant too. I rode a buddys with the single setup and 6 or 8 piston and was surprised how well it stopped and handled.
Look up hogpro

Do you have any idea the weight difference between a Softail & Touring bike?

Softail...1 caliper
Touring...2 calipers

Weight difference...40 pounds.

An aftermarket 6 piston caliper such as Hawg Halters or Performance Machine along with a 13" caliper...is FAR superior to the dual setup of stock Harley calipers.

A 13" caliper! Holy crap! What is that, something that you'd find on a semi truck?

Forgive me, Professor.
Rotor.

Remarkable how we get these juveniles on the internet running around trying to correct an obvious screwup, eh?
Typically, anyone with half a brain knew I was referring to a rotor.

Perhaps your half a brain is missing?
I just don't know.

Now, do you feel better about yourself?
Did correcting a screwup that anyone on this forum should have known, give you the manhood that you're lacking?
Glad I could help.

I've got a 9/16" bore master cylinder, make me an offer if interested.

Dude, you need to put on a latex glove, lube it up real good, and pull your panties out of your butt! IT WAS A JOKE!!! Oh wait, I know what it is; you're probabaly in a snow-belt state, aren't ya! Cabin fever from not riding for a while. And yes, I do only have 1/2 a brain, but fortunately the half that I do have is the comical half.
