Call me crazy, but the bikes shifts better than it did before. Much more solid feel to it, doesn't shake around in neutral and look like it's going to jump into gear on its own. Easy to do and cheap too. The stock one was making me nervous after reading about many failures.

Probably will be some of the best money you've spent, it's one of the first things I buy for a new HD. The factory POS has a tendancy to break at the most inconvient time. I learned this lesson the hard way on my first Harley about a 100 miles from the closest dealer.

I noticed the same thing (more solid shifting) but thought it was psychological. Maybe it really does have a better feel.

When I did mine I noticed it felt better right away.I also put a zerk fitting where the shifter slides through the case.

I should probably do this, too. The one on my Road King collapsed in the garage after a long ride, so I feel lucky. I ended up buying a replacement at the dealer, but it'll also fail at some point.

Where do you guys order these things?

Yeah, where to get a good replacement from.

Not that I'm lazy to put one together, but I can't get outta bed for awhile, back surgery, and all I can do is online shopping. I'm gonna have alot of cardboard boxes in my garage when I heal up.

I bought some chrome ones for my bike a while back after reading about them falling apart on people.
You must have a very sensitive foot if you can fell a differance in the shifting.

Made it feel like a new bike. I can find neutral much easier too. It was long over due.
