Thanks for the great write up and picture. That is exactly what I was looking for. I am ordering the parts. I was also thinking about adding more threads for adjustability.

Be real careful with the bolt through the front shift lever, mine was a little to long and ended up nicking my cylinder fins. I noticed the heim joints froze up, so I had to spray WD-40 on them and work them until they swiveled again(I removed the rod from the bike). My indy tried to convience me they caused my the rear lever(tranny)to fail. Said he had never had one fail with only 62,000 miles on the bike. Told him, he needed to start reading the HD forums and see how many have failed and how many shift rod ends have failed.

I think I'll put this on my list of winter projects. Sounds like a 2 beer minimum for me some cold saturday. Thanx for the ordering info.

I used a button head for the front on mine. It comes very close to the fins so I could see where a hex head would prolly scrape the fins.

I had those factory links fail twice within a year. Quick and easy fix IF you have a spare. I changed to the Heim joint and no more problems. Well worth it.
