Isolated drive system

Fancy name for rubber mounted rear drive pulley that was included in '08...it will also retrofit to '07 touring bikes.

The IDS was needed(altho denyed by Harley) to dampen the shock from engine/tranny that was transmitted to rear wheel.

IDS really works providing it is installed properly.....it is now standard on all touring scoots, and was standard from day one on V-Rods

Well, Sigmund Freud came up with a a model of the human psyche which contains 3 parts, the ID, the Ego and the super ego. The ID is the basic part, which is comprised of basic drives and pleasure. Last time I checked, I don't think people have but ONE ID, not the pleural such as IDS you speak of.

I'm just kiddin......I saw the word ID and I was transported back to my psychology and abnormal psychology classes. I just couldn't help myself, and I'm brain dead from work today....and my ID needs it's basic pleasures right about now.

I admit, I don't know what the kind of IDS you speak of is or are.

Isolated Drive System

It was a retrofit for the 07 touring bikes, standard for 08s and redesigned for 09s.

Think of it as a cush drive installed in the rear wheel to take the impulses from the engine out of the frame and to smooth out the bike.
