Daytona Bike Week - any place for a newbie?

1. When I first bought it (it's my first bike, and I wasn't going to do my first ride in traffic on the freeway), or
2. If it needs service and isn't rideable.
Other than that, I'm riding or not going.

Good for you Matt. Ride that bike. I agree that's what I bought mine for. As far as Daytona is concerned I say go for it & have fun. Yeah, traffic can be heavy at times, but I have been going for years & yes I ride mine all the way and this event has gotten smaller each year. Mainly due to tougher restrictions by LE & economy.

A couple of years ago, I was on US 1 in South Daytona when a guy cruised by in a pearl white Corvette, towing a matching trailer with his pearl white Harley in the back. The reason I remember him (beyond all the matching paint) was that I saw him going back the other direction, and then back heading south again. This dude was literally cruising his bike around in a trailer for all to see.
What a dork.

I went to Daytona last year we stayed at the Days Inn right is Daytona. The main thing I found was get to where you are going early and plan on staying there.
I made the mistake of going over to the track early afternoon and it took 2 hours to go about 3 miles back to the hotel, and you almost needed a gas mask to breath the air.
