Daytona Bike Week - any place for a newbie?
#22
That's the only problem I had in Daytona...
I had a hard time focusing on the road... When you see a half dozen smoking hot babes in thong bikinis piloting busas down the road it can be hard to keep from staring
Go have fun, you will not regret it. Bike Week and Biketoberfest are incredible.

March bike week hasn't really been my favorite, only because the weather is normally unpredictable (rain). As far as traffic goes, it never really to bad in my opinion and there are back roads to get around it. Just remember it is an air cooled bike and becareful of overheating your scoot.
Last but not least, stay out of the public lots. The highest rate of theft when I was going was in those lots. I'm a fan of parking on main street or the private lots and locking the bikes up. Two year ago when I was there I saw three people in the public pay lots that ahd there bike stolen.
Other than that go and enjoy, don't worry about the traffic. The scenery is great and the people all behave.

Good point about the sand. Florida has sand on almost every corner. I'll never tear around an intersection corner (green light or not) just for concern of hitting a patch of sand. A lot of cars can't seem to stay within the lines, so their tires kick up sand when they cut the corner too short and it sprays on the road.
I'm more concerned about losing traction on sand than a wet road.
