They can cancel all the contracts with everyone other than music related as far as I am concerned. I do not like Xm they talk too much. I like to hear tunes when I am riding
I have a search button on my radio if I need it or a couple of mp3 disc's will also work.

In addition to XM 22 for music, I listen to XM121 Fox News. Hope they don't go under because it is the only alternative to use on long rides crossing over many different FM radio coverage areas.

With XM I don't need to change the station unless I want a different kind of music

I'm just wonering where you are getting your customer numbers, I mean there are only 299 million people in the US.

Chapter 11 means they are trying to reorganize. For the business to be worth anything, they will want to keep their customer contracts intact and probably most of their entertainment contracts (although they could get rid of that useless pos Howard Stern). The loosers will be the common shareholders as some or all of the bondholders (of which Echostar is apparently the largest) will end up owning the company. Management will likely be replaced in that scenario.

I've had XM for about 5 yrs now and love it. I live in a rural area in the mountains where AM/FM radio signals are poor at best and non-existant half the time. So XM rules here and is the only option. I sure hope they work out their problems. But I'm sure whoever takes them over will keep things running and maybe make some improvements in the end. I don't see satellite going away that's for sure.

I’ve had satellite radio from the start. I started with XM before there even was a Siruius Radio.

It was stupid for them to overpay for exclusives rights to different crap. One had MLB, the other had NASCAR and NFL you get the idea. They were both going broke trying to run the other one out of town.

Now that they have merged, all those high dollar contracts should come down. I almost threw up, when it was announced that Howard Stern was moving to Sirius with a 5 year, 500 million dollar deal. That was 100 million a year for that jerk. With 11 million subscribers, half of the money was going to him. Who would pay to listen to that jackass anyway?

I hope satellite radio sticks around, I love the concept.

But on a side note: I refuse to give Sirius my credit card number. They have screwed up my account every year for over 5 years now. I have Sirius in my car (a Chrysler product) and the wife has XM (a GM product). I also have XM on my Street Glide because I have to with Harley. That being said, XM charged my credit card for my wife’s car without asking me. MAN THAT PISSED ME OFF !!!

To make a long story short I hope the merge works out, I hope we get a discount for all XM and Sirius accounts put together and I hope they dump Howard Sterns and Martha Stewart’s asses. But that’s just me.
