Fairing is off again. Everything in there looks fine, as far as wires go. Looking at the turn to turn, it looks like full motion turns. Could my lock cylinder be mis aligned? I did get a chrome front end done and a recall switch taken care of the last time it worked properly.

I have an 08 Road King. When I picked up my bike, the same thing... Fork lock would not lock. It turned out to be the rubber fork stops (rubber doughnuts) on forks, close to the neck, where in the wrong place. The tech said they were too high up I took it in and they re-adjusted the stop and all is good now. Don't know if this is your problem, but check it out. Good luck.

ok, i looked in there. no luck on the lock, but the stop was hitting my clutch cable on the left side. That isn't right. Where should that cable be? I still can't get it to engage. But I'm hot on the trail. Maybe i'll try to raise the donut up.

My clutch cable gets in the way I just push a little harder or move cable while engaging fork lock.

I got a great look with the trusty mag lite and a good squint. The lock pin is not dropping down to engage the lock. It now appears lined up ( after adjusting the "donut"). What is going on here and is it safe to ride??

My opinion is that the rubber fork stops (doughnuts) are there to prevent metal upon metal contact when you turn full right to full left. I think you are good to go! I would, in any case, verify this with your service dealer when you get a chance.

maybe i should remove the actual housing and see if I can get it to pop the pin down. Has anybody tackled this yet?

Well then, this thing works off battery power, and it has to be set up exactly. I gave it the good ole fonzy tap and she works. I don't know how, but it does.
