WAG, the reason HD says they don't "fit" '05 and older King TP's and Chopped TP's is that those are fiberglass. There is probably an issue with drilling the fiberglass, leverage/stress due to the hinge point difference with the new latch being lower, or some other issue related to the difference in TP material.

If the OEM hinge part nos. on the older and new TP's and chopped TP are the same, the new hinges would likely fit, perhaps with some different screws, etc.

Rest assured, someone here will try them on an older TP or chopped TP.

Edit: Saw Pastor John's response that Chopped Tour Paks are also made in plastic like the '06 and newer King TP's. In that case, the issue is not the TP material of the chopped TP.

Any idea why these won't fit the chopped tour-pak? Sure look nice... but I guess I'm outta luck.

Edit: Nevermind, looks like my question was already covered. But still.... my '08 Chopped Tour-Pak hinges look identical to the standard Tour-Pak, and they are made of the same materials... wonder why they won't fit... may have to try a pair anyway.

Gotta think that scuffing up the chrome with some emory cloth, a coat of primer and a little talent with some good rattle can paint would do just fine.

I haven't seen them but...could you pop rivet the new ones on instead of using the torx screws? Seems like it would be more permanent and no worries about the screws vibrating out.
