Default Installing Fender Trim On RK Custom

I own an '05 RK Custom like the one in the pic below...the RK Custom came with a plain fender which I liked but I'd like to add the front emblem and the trim...not the bottom skirt as in the pic.

I know I'll have to drill holes...any suggestions out there as to how to make this an easy install?

I just put mine from my stock fender on my lowered fender about a year ago, I masked everything off and taped it all in place, marked the holes and then drilled. I put a piece of wood between the fender and the wheel just in case, but went slow. The bolts on the chrome strips slide in them, so you don't have to be perfect with placement. On the tip "measure twice, drill once". Make sure you touch up the holes before you bolt it all together.

I'm always over-cautious on my bike. I measure 6-8 times, drill once.
