Let me add to the cost....shop around and play they game you'll come out on top. You can save thousands doing this. You'll start with around 22k OTD and the OTD is important. They dont like giving you all the info like
1) bike before fees
2) just fees
3) total out the door
4) interest rate
5) length of lone
Pick a shorter term and avoid the 84 month thing, Haggle on your interest since they have the ability to lower it and make it know you are talking to more than one dealer. Stop in and stare a little even drool but just let them know "you were just in the area and stopped buy to see the bike" even give them a date by which you plan to purchase and that your ironing out details with another shop. And actually work between a few dealers and you can save alot.
I did this on my 2009 Road Glide FLTR
OPTIONS 1) Pearl Black
2) cruise control
3) Anti Lock Brakes
4) Security System
5) 3-in-1 Leather Jacket for my wife
Out the door with all fees and taxes $19,600. I came away with the bike I wanted and you know they still made money but I saved almost $3K from their starting price. Also I spent 2 weeks on phone and in person playing the game. This works best if they bike is on the sales floor. Ordering something is less negotiable, because you cant pull the "I would ride out on it today if....." scenerio.

I don't get it!
If the economy is so bad, why do you guys keep paying these ridiculous prices for these bikes. I would make them eat the new bikes before I would pay that for a bike. You are just enabling them to continue raping us. I have an 04 RG and love it. It still rides great and I can't see putting my hard earned money in THEIR pockets when my bike is still so damn good. I bought it used in 06 because after looking at new RG I decided I WAS NOT going to pay that much for a NEW bike. Too each his own though. As long as everyone keeps buying them they will continue to screw us. Hope you don't consider this a rant. It's really not! They just don't have anything I want THAT bad.

I really do get it!
Was my post to complicated for you? As long as people keep paying these prices for new HD they will gladly sell them to you. Remember the old rule of supply and demand? Well, it doesn't work QUITE as well as it used to but it still gives you some leverage. Have you noticed how the car dealers are scrambling for your buck. Go to a Chevy dealer and see how badly they want to sell you a car. They are not selling many vehicles and they ARE willing to deal. If you missed it I am a HD rider and have been for years but I am not a sheep to be lead down the path. I work to hard for my money to THROW it away because they changed the HD emblem or something so I just have to have that NEW HD at an inflated price. It's called marketing... I wouldn't mind having a bigger motor and 6 speed but I'm not going to play their game. Make a couple changes and raise the price.
Here sheepy, sheepy let me bend you over and sell you a NEW HD.
