Default 09 owners, hows the heat?

I've got an 06 RK and just found out that upgrading to the new cam chain system was gonna run about $1000. ( service said they are doing about 2 upgrades a week ). Was told you can't just switch out the chain to a roller chain. So, I was thinking I may just say pizz on it and get a new 09. Was wondering how bad the engine heat is on a stock bike. I thinking of just adding slipons for sound and that's it.

it's 29 degrees here. heat is not a problem. but seriously my 09 is a bit cooler than my 01 was. the difference in handling, acceleration and braking will be worth the change.

I had a 04 police road king before I got my 09 street glide. The o9 does make more heat for the passenger but for the difference in bikes thats a very minor trade off

I have an 09 RK, less than 500 miles, no problem whatsoever with heat. I haven't found one thing about it I dislike. Taking my time shopping for slip-ons, listening to a lot of bikes. hope this helps. Ride on !

I live in Calif., been 75-80 degrees lately

well i got an 07 with rhinehart true duals and nothing has changed since as far as heat other then exhaust shape. i also have a tmax tuner and this thing will still cook your dinner. it will effect people differently. personally until harley changes the 96 i won't recomend it to anyone. i'm not saying it is not reliable but it is hot. and i think a bigger change is coming for 2010 in the harley line up. but if we were close friends i would not recommend you buying the 96 motor. just my 2 cents. (unless you live in alaska) lol

I have the 09 Ultra. Lot of heat on the right side. I have 10,000 miles on mine. The heat though is not that bad so I have lived with it. Then I went on a trip to Las Vegas. Going down the strip it got so hot on the right side it made me worry. Now it was a lot of stop and go traffic. But I made the decision to install an A/F and the PCV. Well worth the money so far. Definetly has cooled it down. Now it is so cold I wished I had some of that heat back!

My husband had an '06 Street Glide and now has an '09 Electra Glide Standard. I rode passenger behind him for hours on the new bike and never got hot. But he has mid-frame air deflectors installed.

I have them on my '09 Street Glide as well. Gets very hot around here but I have no heat problems coming off my bike. I had a 95" motor in my 2006 Heritage Softail Classic that would bake me in the summer time.

Good question....lets take a close look at this....everyone complained there was too much heat on the '07-'08's, these bikes have 1 exhaust pipe on each side....so to make things better the moco runs BOTH pipes on the same side on the '09's! So how do you think the heat is now? They also added the nice plastic saddle heat shields.....yeah, that'll solve the problem. I have been told that unless you add a fuel management device on the '09's you can actually cook the meat on your right leg, so get an '09 and drop a few bucks on a fuel management and live happily ever after.

Just got back from Brandon HD. All I can say is I'm glad I didn't ride my bike there. Salesmen said "you wanna go for a test ride". I said "HELL YEAH". So I got on an 09 streetglide. What a nice ride. Very solid. Stock power didn't feel any seat of the pants different than my stage 1 06 RK though . Couldn't tell about the heat since it was only 50 deg. out and I only had a sweatshirt on. If I had my bike I probably would have traded. decisions, decisions
