I hear ya, i'm in michigan too and i never hated winter until i this one.. probably due to buying my first bike last year.
this winter we've had snow on the ground longer then any time in probably 15-20 years.. global warming my ***.
I'll never complain about riding here in Sacramento CA. I commute daily and occasionally the morning temps at 6:30 a.m. are 32 or so but rarely. Maybe I'll get heated gloves. (ha ha) This has been one of the most mild winters we've had but lots of fog. Try finding yourself face to face with a porto potty (fell off a truck) in your path on a crazy foggy morning before sunrise. Ha, I had just read an article 3 days before about never taking your regular route for granted...that ya never know when you might find an elephant in the roadway.
This winter seems like it has been worse than others. The only thing that helps is my bike is apart for multiple reasons, so I couldnt ride if it was nice. We hit 45 last weekend and it felt like 60.
I concur on the "Winter Stinks" subject. Up here where I live in Manistee County, MI. we have had 162 inches of snow fall this winter. We beat last years season totals already, and we are only half way through the this winter season. The cold has been brutal, a high of 8 deg today and it was -10 deg tonight on the way home from work @ 7pm. The roads are taking a beating also, frost heaves everywhere. It's supposed to be close to 40 - 45 this weekend, down right balmy if I say so myself!!!
I am looking at 2 degrees now and 5' snowbanks along my driveway. We have had over 150" of snow (yes, 150") so far this year and we still have another month and a half or two months of snow yet.
It's supposed to be 44 on Friday (I'll be at work all day Friday) and possibly in the lower 50's on Saturday (when I'm working from 7AM till midnight).
