Default Removing the Tour Pack on the Ultra

Guys

To remove the Tour Pack from the Ultra... and then be able to swap it on and off when I want...

Who has done this - and what do you need to buy - and what are the steps

Can't be done. Take off the tourpak and you have a Standard with a radio.

sorry, had to do it........

I have a 00 EGC, I have taken my tour pack off 3 times in 9 years, it always goes back on a month later. It's not ever coming off again.

I have a quick release mount on mine. It has been off once in two years. Unless you plan on buying a solo or more sport appearing seat, it just doesn't look right with the tourpack off.

Just my opinion.

I've installed the kit from HD that makes the tour pack detachable. I haven't put mine back on since I took it off. I have the stock seat on the bike, and I think it looks fine.

I thought there was a detachable kit - but I also thought there were some types of kits to relocate the antenna's and also what to do with the wiring for the tour pak lights.

I agree it probably won't look right - but maybe with a different seat...

The kit relocates the radio antenna just behind the left saddlebag. You lose use of the CB without the tourpack as there is no relocation for the CB antenna. As for the wires, you just roll them up and tuck them under the seat.

hammer and chisel - i need a bike to practice on - got one pops ? :-)

skyking - i sent you a pm - maybe you can forward a pic of your bike to show the looks with the pack off

I initially didn't see the kit from HD on their site - and now I found it - the last question I had is answered - you don't get the cb with the kit...

thx to all.

You can use one of those hidden anntenas, then you should be able to use the CB, I would think.

I had detachable stuff on my Fatboy because the wife wanted comfort, but to roll around town, I wanted style. In the long run, I ended up leaving everything on because it took too much time going back and forth, and the bike did not look right with a shield, backrest. saddlebags, etc. So, I bought a bike (2007 Ultra Classic) that looks right with all the gear. There is NO way I would go back to switching back and forth. I even thought about getting a used street glide, or maybe another Fatboy to have a city bike before getting detachables.

I would have to pay off a couple of things first, but the thought DID cross my mine. It DID NOT cross my wifes mind too well though.
