I have the Deluxe smoked LED tail light on my 07 SG, and I don't even notice the top light. The white diodes on top are very small and not very bright. It's not even an issue.

 

I am running this tail light on my '08 SG and the clear tag light is no issue at all like several have already stated. I do agree with the one reply on the fact this tail light isn't very bright. My cure for this was... I installed the HD signal light module which converts the signal lights to signal, running and brake and used the red lenses. This is a very bright conversion and I now run it on all 3 of my bikes. Hope this helps.
