Default Called Harley Customer service today. Some models will have delayed production

I am waiting on my bike for a Feb 27 delivery and I am getting anxious so I called Harley Customer service to see if there was anyway to get a more accurate delivery window and the woman that answered told me some models will experience a delay in production due to layoffs. I hope mine isn't one of them because I will be really pissed. I will have to wait and see but If my bike isn't hear before March 1. I am going to have to start looking around @ local dealer stock bikes.

Mike, Let me know if you want me to check out dealers around here later in the month.

7125, I'm sure they'll try to use that to drive up prices but with lower demand it shouldn't work.

I'm thinking the layoffs, production cuts and factory consolidations are going to impact quality and avail not just of bikes, but also parts.

I'm also predicting it ain't going to be business as usual for most dealers.

Talked to my dealer today to check on status of my '09 Ultra order and the date for it is Feb. 17th shipping with a Feb. 24th or 25th arrival date. I ordered this on November 11th, 2008. Back then the date for shipping was March 2nd with an arrival est. date of March 10th. Now we will have to shovel some of the salt off of the roads here. They sure have enough of it down. Must be cheaper to salt than plow.

Mike,
If your bike was slated for a Feb 27 delivery, your dealer should already have information about the Build Date, expected Ship Date, etc.

If your dealer does not have any of that, then your bike is definitely going to be further out than Feb 27 (which will suck)!

Problem is I feel like I'm bothering them when I call or email. I might stop in tomorrow to do a face to face with them. I want to order mods but I don't want to do it till I know the bike is actually heading my way. If this falls through who knows I might not even end up with the same model.

I have read several threads where some are ordering bikes.
Why?

I have 4 Harley dealers with in a 125 mile Radius. and each of them are loaded with bikes to choose from. With today's economy I would think those ready for a new bike would look for the best price.
Just my thoughts.
Yes it very well may go back to a waiting list
I had to wait over a year to get my tour glide
just my thoughts
