Default Getting to the Fuel Shell

I know that many of you in the past did your own Fuel Shell replacement for the 08 Recall. The question that I have is did you purchase the cam ring removal tool use to take the ring out after removing the console from the tank from Harley or is there another tool that can be used. I looked up the part number and even at Zanotti's prices, they wanted 90.00 for this tool. I don't mind spending the money when needed but it usually, the MOCO is very proud of their specialized tools which is evident in their pricing.

I, carefully, used a brass punch and hammer. May not have been the easiest or fastest, but it worked.

Thumbs up

I used a blunt screwdriver and hammer. very easy to do just tap the ring and it comes right out.

I did like above. FWIW, anyone that does want to purchase the tool JIM's makes the tool now. I looked very closely at the one at the shop and it wouldn't be hard for an enterprising individual to take a metal pipe of the same size and fabricate one.

Thanks for the input - kind of figured that there was a work around. I couldn't see spending that kind of money on something that I only use once in a blue moon, specially when it is such a simplistic tool.
