Question Shriner bikes?

One of the main reasons I haven't considered an '09 Ultra is that they didn't offer them in solid white this year. I found that the Shriner editions are available in white. I'm not gonna try to become a Shriner just to get one, and I mean absolutely NO disrespect to those who are, but I wonder if they're available to the general public. I know that the firefighters and law enforcement editions are supposedly restricted to those professions when the bikes are first sold. Anybody know if the Shriners edition is the same?

I believe you have to show a Shriner ID card to purchase one.

Like the other Special Edition bikes (Police models and Fire models), you must provide valid identification which, along with the purchase documents, are photocopied and forwarded to H-D. You must also sign an affidavit agreeing not to sell the bike until at least one year has passed from the date of purchase. I went through this process when I purchased my 2007 Police Special Edition Fat Boy which I owned for a little over a year before I traded it in on our '08 Electra Glide. The dealer couldn't even take it in on a trade until a year had passed. It's been my experience that H-D is pretty serious about the rules regarding their special edition bikes.

Wonder if they would turn a sale down due to lack of proper documents?

The only difference is some of the colors. And there is a way to decode the VIN to tell if a bike is a shrine edition. If your title says shriner, it's probably safe to say that's what you have.

Not totally true mine is a FF Special Edition and it says Shriner on the title and when I asked, I was told that's what the SE bikes say on the title. I did do a double take on the VIN since I am not a Shriner.

Default Special Editions Info

I just finished dealing with how Special Edition Bikes are labeled.

"ALL" Special Editions for "inventory" control shows up "Shriner".

When this first came to my attention I though--oh well!

Then I received I nice case with my 2009 Ultra's Peace Officer Special Edition birth certificate from Harley. When it said "Shriner" on this one I wasn't unhappy. Nothing against the Shriners at all.

At one time law enforcement received a very good discount. Now it actually cost $200.00 more than a civilian model.

After working through my dealer I was advised yesterday that Harley will correct my bike's birth certifcate and on future orders.

Mine will now read 2009 Electra Glide Ultra Classic "Police".

Since this is my first Harley purchased, I can at least say I am very pleased that they listened!

After 30 years on the job I bought this model to continue to "RIde with Pride"!

Do a google search.

It is an "appendant body" of Freemasonry.

First you become a Mason
Become a Master Mason
Then become a Shriner.

I'm a Shriner, BTW.
