Yes. The MU90-16 is .01" taller and .06" wider than the D402 MU85-16, not enough to case clearance problems. The 160 is .39" taller and .53" wider than the D402.

Same here.

The MU90, because it is a bit taller, also got my speedo/odo to be nearly spot on.

That is if you trust their posted specs! For some reason the 160 ended up much more narrow than what is posted. Crazy isn't it. I promise I was not drinking that night... :-)

Which is actually wider when mounted - the MU90 or the 160? LP's account of the 160 being fairly narrow has me wondering. I'm about to order a set.

Maybe iclick will chime in with a picture of the MU90 showing how close it is to the belt guard. I'm wondering if the MT90 and the 160 are really just the same tire! One for Harley's world and one for the rest of the world. That, or a bunch of 160's got the wrong label...

I did head down to a store and measure another 160. It was identical to mine. So my tire is not the only "skinny" E3 160 out there if you know what I mean.

One other thing I wanted to mention is the load rating. The 160 is 992, the MU90 is 930. Just one more reason I wanted to give the 160 a chance.

Good luck with your choice.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread I have about .22" of clearance. I can fit a 7/32" long Allen wrench in between the guard and tire, but a 1/4" wrench won't clear. Try the 160 using the same method. A drill bit should work as well.

The MU90 is a 140, so I don't think it's the same. If it was, why would the dimensions be so much different? I really doubt if the tire is mismarked. Look at the tire from the side. Does it look like a lower-profile tire than the MU85 that was originally fitted? This MU90 looks like a higher profile tire, which it is.

But a picture is worth a thousand words! humor us?

Also I know you've said you wouldn't modify the belt guard to make a tire fit (wize); however, the harley engineers did it for us on the 09's, the belt guard is modified... no inner shield. Only outer shield. Apparently the HD engineers didn't think protection for the belt from the tire itself was important. I'll get a pic of that too in awhile. It does have plenty of room though. Just thought it a little comical.

For sure. My thanks to y'all for this good info and I got a pair onto my '07 RK today (went with MU90 on rear). Obviously cannot add anything to what's already been said other than I sure do like the BWs against chrome spokes. I know - I'm odd - but I like the way my "fast color" scoot looks even more now. I did note a bit more noise from the front but that's probably just "new" and will disappear.

Thanks again,
Steve
