Ah, those Kimbers...
...I'm still waiting on the Raptor II that's on it's way to my dealer. I've been waiting for a little over two weeks now, not too bad so far.
He already had it on order for stock and he called the factory while I was there and any H/G ordered as of then had a 90-120 day wait.
Loved the read on this thread, by the way.

If it's true, the guy writing the letter is one lucky guy, assuming he was able to draw that Kimber from a shoulder holster fast enough to beat the assailant who assumably had the knife already pointed to the victim.
I've always heard that within 7 yards, few people can draw fast enough to beat a knife, especially one already out. Obviously, before or while taking off his jacket, the victim might as well draw his gun before his attacker sees the pistol/holster.
Still, it makes for a good story - assuming it's true.

Interesting and somewhat lucky outcome. No escalation..he could have been high, could have had backup, could have done a lot of things.
And one thing I learned very early in life...they can always be out for revenge and find a way to get at you and yours. Especially if you are in a relatively small town, or visit the same establishments over and over.
I've been able to survive without firearms, being cautious and well planned. Not perfect, but my family and I have survived a couple of confrontations that easily could have escalated. Macho is one thing...but taking care of your vulnerable family is another.
