Update: Fatboy Stolen December 13, 2007
I am close to reaching a settlement with State Farm Insurance on my 2004 Fatboy stolen December 13, 2007 (13 months ago). See this thread for more details: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...ast-night.html.
It has taken a long time because I refused their initial settlement of $20,000 based on their appraisal.
I had $35,000 in the bike including in aftermarket parts, new bike purchase, tax, labor, etc.
They are now offering $27,500. They are basically giving me $14,000 for a used 2004 Fatboy with 9000 miles on it valued as of December 13, 2007 and $13,500 for $16,000 of add on equpiment.
I have ordered a Yellow 2009 Screaming Eagle Road Glide to replace it and plan on using this money to pay for the majority of it. The Road Glide shoud be here shortly.
If I refuse their offer the next step is to split the cost of a third party appraiser. There is probably a risk of a different value coming out of that process. Higher or lower? I don't know.
Should I hold out for more or take this offer?

If you think you're gonna get even close to $35k out of them, you're in for a rude awakening. $27.5k sounds like a damn good offer to me.
Look at it this way....if you take their offer you paid $7500 to ride the bike and enjoy it for 3 years.
Take the offer and move on. That SE/RG is waiting for you to bring it home.

No stated accessory coverage. Just the value of bike as of date of loss. I never expected to get what I had into it....after all it was a used four year old bike when stolen.
