Lowering my 209 Street Glide??????
#21
I have a 2009 SG Also and am 5'-5" 29 " inseam. I installed a lowering cam. Used the 1" drop on top of the fact the SG is already lowered from Factory. The front end is also already lowered 1 inch from the factory. I would not go more than 1" drop. I have ridden two up (325 lbs total) with this cam, and air pressure set to 20 psi and have not had any problems. Do that and either shave the seat or change out seat to a narrower seat and you would be good.

I had my seat shaved and gel inserts put in to get me about 1 1/2 inches lower. Next I plan on doing the lowering front springs which should get me positioned perfectly to back up the bike.
I do not see how the front lowering springs ruin the ride of the SG. Sure it changes the dynamic from stock but it would not make it 'harsh' or uncontrollable.
Not like you are racing on a touring bike.

Hey everyone thanks for the suggestions. From the sounds of it I should probably start with a seat and go from there. The only thing that I'm worried about with lowering my SG is that I have big boom can pipes with the stretched bags and rear fender, I also have a 21" front wheel and 18" rear wheel, how will my ground clearance and cornering be if I chose to go that route. For those of you that have lowered your bikes I've heard that it takes away from the ride.

I am 5'6" with 28" inseam. I'm ready to pull the trigger on my SG but can't decide whether to go an get the front lowered or not. I think that is all I would need to have done to be able to flat-foot.
How does the front perform with it lowered? Any harshness or bottoming out verses stock?
How does the bike look "at rest" - does it look out of place with the front lowered or does it not matter?
