Hey everyone thanks for the suggestions. From the sounds of it I should probably start with a seat and go from there. The only thing that I'm worried about with lowering my SG is that I have big boom can pipes with the stretched bags and rear fender, I also have a 21" front wheel and 18" rear wheel, how will my ground clearance and cornering be if I chose to go that route. For those of you that have lowered your bikes I've heard that it takes away from the ride.

Not for me, handles a lot better with the lower center of gravity. I watch the curbs when hopping them but cornerings not a problem. I can feel the road a little more but not to the point it's uncomfortable.

I had an Indy shop do the work for me and they modified the original equipment lowering the front forks one inch. I believe they replaced an insert/spacer that was one inch shorter. Progressive makes a kit for this and Harley dealers sell a couple different kits. The way the Indy explained it to me the only difference in them modifying my original equipment and using the kit was the extra hundred dollars I'd have to pay for the kit.

Your indy was wrong. The progressive springs (and probably the HD springs) have a different rate to make up for the shorter travel and give a better than stock ride.

I have a 2009 SG Also and am 5'-5" 29 " inseam. I installed a lowering cam. Used the 1" drop on top of the fact the SG is already lowered from Factory. The front end is also already lowered 1 inch from the factory. I would not go more than 1" drop. I have ridden two up (325 lbs total) with this cam, and air pressure set to 20 psi and have not had any problems. Do that and either shave the seat or change out seat to a narrower seat and you would be good.

No it isn't. Harley sells a 1" lower front spring kit which wil work with either the FLHX, EGS, EGC, or EGUC.
