I totally agree with this post. But just in case...... I carry an extra 10 miles worth of Premium.

Well this is good news. It looks like we've got somewhat of a pattern. I have run down to the "lo" warning as well and was only able to put 5.1 gallons into it. This is good to know. Thanks for the post, I've been wondering about this. Cheers.

I just use common sense, 1/8 of a tank left, time to put some in. If I ever have to do it, that'a a different story.

I'm paranoid . I carry 20m. I've learned to trust the HD rXX numbers.

Thumbs up

It's a fuel remaining calculator. Very accurate. Ask me how I know. I ran my bike down to the vapors, put 6.1 gallons in it. Did over 260 miles on one tank. I use the indication all the time. It does an updated calculation every several seconds. Example, if you are easy on the throttle for a while or suddenly get a tail wind, you see the number rise ("making gas"). If you get into a head wind, or start romping on the throttle, you'll see the number go down pretty quickly.

The bike needs to see 10 mph at first to start calculating. So don't trust what it says when you fire up first run of the day. You have to get going first.

My bike (08 ultra) triggers the low fuel light at 1 gallon. Usually that's 35 to 40miles remaining. When it indicates 10 miles remaining it switches to Lo. I always take a odometer hack when I get the light and check my remaining fuel indicated. It's always nuts on.

I'd say it's one of the greatest features on the newer bikes. You can really squeeze your fuel stops if you have to.

Guys I have an 07 ultra, and I have looked for this in my owners manual info and have failed to find it. Does the 07's have the mileage count down on it?

My 07 EGC did not. I liked the change when I upgraded to the 09 Ultra.

Nope...didn't start putting that feature in till the 08's

I don't trust HD guages of any kind.. I use my ZUMO, and tell it to warn me when I get to 200 miles. That when I start looking for gas. No sense in taking chances as far as I am concerned. Besides, after 200 miles, I need to strech anyways.

When I had the 06, I would set it at 170, and never had a problem.

On my 2003 FLHTCi, all I know is that it seems to take forever to get to just under 1/2 full and I get this warm all over feeling that the bike is going to go on forever. Then the needle drops like I stone, the low fuel light (which is so darn small that I can hardly see the dratted thing) and I get this panic attack with about 20 knots in my stomach. Consequently, I look for gas when I see 1/2 empty.
