cam tensioners what year did they change?

Default cam tensioners what year did they change?

i have a 06 rg with 17,000 miles on it do i have the new types like the 08 & 09s??

i notice they do not have inspection covers on them like mine thanks in advance

and ride safe

No, that was the last year for the cam tensioners and shoes. That is why I went to gear drive. A lot of people went to the 07 set up. If I knew then what I know now, I'd used the 07 set up also . I'd still change the cams. INO

The 06 Dynas have the new tensioners.

The tensioners are "old style" but I think there was a small change in the camplate. Seem to remember somthing like more oil flow. Anyway I am going to upgrade to the 07 and later style. Was going to go with gears but think I changed my mind.

What's involved in going to the '07 and up tensioner setup?

From what I understand, You change the whole cam plate, chains, sprockets and all. The cam bearing diameters are different, I think. So, while you have it apart, go to a little more cam = little more TQ

The 06 Dyna's were the test bed for HD's new prmary chain tensioner which made it to the rest of the big twin line up in 07.

The new cam tensioners came out with the 96" engines.

to go to the 07 and later cam tensioner you have to change the cam support plate,
oil pump.cams,chains, tensioners.
Ther is a fellow forum member who has put the whole kit together and has it for sale
cheaper than you can buy it any where else. His user name on the forum is
