[QUOTE=KoalaCowboy;4424468]FB4447,
You're referring to Manitou Springs at the base of Pikes Peak. Lots of run stuff around; you might also want to drive out to Cripple Creek which is ~45 minutes away. Garden of the Gods is cool, but not an all day afair (IMHO).
US-24 West to US-285 South (to Poncha Springs). At Poncha Springs, take US-50 West to Montrose. From Montrose, take US-550 South to Durango. This will take you down the "Million Dollar Highway" (google that) and I promise you will enjoy that drive!!

I left Page, Az. at daylight one morning and toured the south rim, then on to Kingman, Az. It was a full days trip. From there to Hoover Dam, Vegas, to Mesquite, Az. Then to Zion NP and on to Kanab, to north rim, which we liked better. Damn near froze leaving north rim back to Kanab because we left all gear in motel room. Temp difference of 50 dgs F. Also the ride from Cortez to Durango, Silverton, Ouray, Montrose over Red Mountain is as good as it gets. Be prepared for Temps from freezing to over 100 dgs F. The Escalante, Monument Valley and Moab are great and scenic rides in this general area. Ride safe.

Here are a couple pictures of my trip there last August, Sedona and the Oak Creek Canyon road are beautiful and lots of camping areas along the road. Grand Canyon and Sedona in one day would be stretching things for time, be sure and take rain gear I hit all the thunderstorms last year got stuck at the Grand a extra 4 hours because of them. The temperature drops rapid when the rain comes as much as 20 degrees, I'll have to upload some of Sedona.
