Because of its up curve shape (copied from the Japanese bikes), this rack only allows 8" depth for a piece of luggage. That's right, only 8 inches between the seat and the curve. So, if your luggage/tour bag is deeper than 8", and almost all are, this rack will be of no use to you. And what makes things worse is, that it's the only rack choice for 2009 touring model owners. So if you have an investment in luggage for your older bike and you're going to a 2009. You may have to invest in Harley's Tour-Pak stuff. It looks like the only solution available.
