I must admit that crossover (crossunder?) pipe under the engine sure makes me wonder about engine temp.

True dat but I doubt HD will make the same mistakes many mfg's (including HD) made in the god aweful 70's. Those cars were horrible.

Maybe this is a better perspective: compare a '99 (1st gen twin cam) with
an '09.

That 09 is a sweet ride. The changes have been great, and I'm really looking forward to when I can afford to move up.... Yes, they're getting it right! More and more right each year. Many less complaints this year than the 07's or 08's... Just think, only 6-7 months till the 2010's hit the showroom floor.

There's no such thing as right. Always a flaw here and there. Need more seating time since it's hibernating in the garage with 2,000 miles. For now, Ultra's awesome in every aspect of a motorcycle you'd expect out of. My only problem with the Ultra is my addiction to splurge my hard earned moola on bling.

I've got nothing to gripe about besides having to add the little cosmetic stuff. My first Harley and love the dickens out of it!

Pretty simple answer - they got it right. The only thing is still the comfort of the seats, they won't change that so they can sell aftermarket seats. Other than that, perfect.

My experience with HD is they clunk, shake and are hot. My 09' runs great though I haven't had an FLH since 89' so I can only compare it to that. I had the cash and figured an 09' would be the way to go. Ride Free, ***** G.
