Cool FLHT Standard Air/Oil Temp gauges

I have an 09 FLHT standard, I was looking thru the catalog and notice a kit to complete the gauges on an FLHT. It was $99 and comes with both gauges to complete the instrustments.

Has anyone done this ?
Is it plug & play ( the bike is pre-wire for these ? )

comments please ?

I looked at the download for the instructions on these... it has wiring diagrams and stuff.

It is truly plug and play or do you have to put that sensor on your frame and splice wires and stuff?

No splicing, I put the air temp./ oil (PRESSURE) gauge kit on my 08 FLHT and took less then a six pack. I don't know about an oil Temperature gauge though.

Just fitted this kit on my 07 FLHT and it is real easy, the kit comes with the oil pressure sender to screw into the engine but I didnt need it as there was already one fiitted and wired in the front of the engine. All I had to do was fit the gauges and plug in the connectors. Now I can sink a few, but I think a six pack is a bit overkill for this job.

Regards, Roger.

Don't buy the kit. Buy oil pressure/oil temp instead. The air temp is worthless.

What is the advantage of installing an oil temp gauge versus buying an oil dipstick with oil temp gauge?

It's in front of you, and the dipsticks have been known to grow legs.

The Air Temp Guage is totally worthless as stated above. The oil pressure and oil temp are worthwhile. I have an Ultra which does come with the oil pressure guage and the air temp guage. I replaced the air temp with the oil temp and it was a very easy instal though time consuming. Oil has to be drained, pipe plug removed and sender installed with wireing routed thru fairing. Front fairing has to be removed. And small hands are handy as everything inside the fairing is a tight fit.
