Touring Bikes - any fun for short trips?
I currently have a sporty and am seriously considering a FLHTC... There is no doubt that the touring bikes can eat miles like there is no tomorrow, but I'm curious to hear from the bagger owners on how they are for just the day-to-day running around. I have no misconceptions on it being a sportster, but if I want to run to the store 3 miles away for a loaf of bread am I going to look at the bike and then jump in the car?
In a perfect world, I would have 3-4 bikes… but it aint, so I don’t.
Your 2 cents is greatly appreciated!

Putting that loaf of bread in a hard saddle bag is much better than bungee-cording it to your pillion seat.
Seriously, if anything, I find my RG just fine around town and for short trips.

I only have one bike (Ultra) and I ride it almost every day, never start my truck in the summertime. Short trips, long trips, bar hops, whatever!

No different than a sporty, dyna, softail, etc. Actually probably easier, with all the bells and whistles.

Don't mean to be a smart a$$ but just try taking public transportation (ie the bus) for a few days then ask yourself that question again.
