Touring Bikes - any fun for short trips?

Ok, the only 1 con you are going to have with the bagger vs the sportster is backing into or out of a parking spot. (worse if you are short or on gravel or sloped ground) But really how much of your trip does that make up? 0.1%?
I have a 05 softail and 03 RKC, the RKC handles better and I ride it 90% of the time. The Softail is my "cruise night" bike.

Nothin' but fun
Dude, the RK for me is a breath of fresh air. Many years of a Kaw, then moving up to a XL1200. I would trade them all for my Road King gladly over and over. Short trips, long trips, any reason to break her out is a good time.
She is good in the twisties, good in the straights

I ride my RK almost everyday in the winter for work, which involves running short (5 miles or less) runs for deliveries for my buisiness. Love it. The RK handles better than my sporty did and is much more comfortable. I almost allways have to stop at the grocery store for a loaf of bread or gal. of milk or whatever. It's great.

I currently have a sporty and am seriously considering a FLHTC... There is no doubt that the touring bikes can eat miles like there is no tomorrow, but I'm curious to hear from the bagger owners on how they are for just the day-to-day running around. I have no misconceptions on it being a sportster, but if I want to run to the store 3 miles away for a loaf of bread am I going to look at the bike and then jump in the car?
In a perfect world, I would have 3-4 bikes… but it aint, so I don’t.
Your 2 cents is greatly appreciated!

Whether I look at the truck is more a function of the weather... Rain? truck... Snow? truck..Ice storm? Truck... other than that... it's the bike for ME... as always YMMV
