Default Police model and King tour Pak?

Hello,
I have a 05 Road king police model that I want to put a king tour pak on. I plan on mounting it in the solo position. Will I have any problems because my lids open a little different than a standard bag?
Thanks
Mark

Don't know for sure but... the last time I was pulled over by a bike cop (last week for some chicken sh*t reason) he had a tour pack on his bike. Looked to me that he was riding an R/K. So I'm speculating that it must work.

You will need to raise the TP approximately 3/4" from the TP rack. I used hard rubber automotive bushings and longer stainless steel nuts, bolts and washers. Here's a picture:

I was thinking I might have to. Thank you for the quick reply. How about if I mount it for two up?

You're welcome. hadaz is correct; you will need to raise the TP whether you use a solo or two-up mounting. It's not a problem and there are a variety of ways to do it; I simply used the automotive bushings. And I usually have the TP on a two-up detachable rack; tried the solo for a while and took the pic when it was on the solo rack.

I just did this with Harlypingman's tourpack.

I found some shock bushings at NAPA for $18 for four. I mounted it on the black plate that comes with the police bikes. I actually had to buy a set of shifter bushings as well because the shock bushings weren't tall enough. You could probably get some washers or something too and just use them for shims. The shock bushings were only a few 16ths of an inch too short. Anyway, in the end, it mounted solid and doesn't go anywhere. No drilling or goofing around.

As for solo riding, you'll need a different mounting bracket than the stock one that comes with the bike if you want the backrest to be right up behind you.

steveja, glad to hear you got it mounted and hope you get some riding weather to enjoy it.

Should have been more specific about the automotive bushings; I used front end bushings I picked up at Auto Zone or other similar store--they were on a peg board rack and didn't seem to be vehicle specific--just black hard rubber.
