Any differences between an 03 and 05 Road King?
mechanically as far as the motors, trans, gearing, etc...i've researched and can't find any...reason i'm asking is because i'm playing around w/PC3 maps and i found one that matches my pipes/cleaner better but it says its for a 2005 RK...i have a 2003
btw...i know, get it dyno'd already
thanks

Perhaps Dawg can compare the cams in the civilian '05's and the police '03. I did this several years ago and there was a time when the police cams were different from the civilian cams, but I don't recall when the cams became the same for f.i. police and civilian TC's.
You could do the same thing next time your at your Dealer's parts counter; just ask for the two parts books and compare part nos.

2003 / 2005
There were internal motor changes. The valve stems were reduced in size to 7MM and the valve seals are a different style in 05. My buddy own a 05 and rides cross country several times a year and has experianced oil consumption problems 3 times now.
First 2 times they replaced the seals only to have problems 5000 miles later. The 3rd time they modified the seals with Harleys guideance and he experianced less oil consumption but it didn't eliminate the problem.
This fall they replaced the 2005 head with a 2004 model to get back to the good valve seals. He hasn't riden it yet since the head change.
Also I think they went from a tapered crank bearing where they could control crankshaft end play to a straight roller bearing. A HD trained independent mechanic friend of our is retrofitting the tapered bearings back into the motor if any performance modifications are done to prevent crank walk and damage.
