Default Anyone considering moving OUT of Chicago?

I've been thinking about it for several years. Now, with all of this snow and cold, I think I've finally had enough. I just have to convince the wife now.

Here's today actual temp. The current windchill is -34.

The cold winters make the summers more enjoyable, that being said if I didn't work for the city Florida would look pretty nice.

Yeah, the cold has gotten old. That being said, I grew up in Minnesota so it's balmy here (-9) compared to there (-24 at 9:15 a.m.).

I work for an excavating company and thankfully we stay parked when the weather is like this.

However, when building was booming a few years ago, our cut off temp was zero, meaning if it were zero or above at 6 a.m., we'd roll.

My brother lived in the mid-west back in the late 70's for about 5 years, after a couple of them winters the money just didn't look as good anymore and he moved back south. I've lived in Florida my whole life and have seen lots of folks move here for the weather,I think the biggest problem is unemployment right now, with that there is more crime. If you are considering moving here do lots of research before you decide, good housing is expensive, there is too much overcrowding and blue hairs. It's not paradise, but it is warm.

Just the ridiculous anti-gun/anti-2A laws in Illinios are enough reason to leave the state, let alone Chicago, even if the weather didn't suck so bad.
