I've been thinking about it for several years. Now, with all of this snow and cold, I think I've finally had enough. I just have to convince the wife now.
Here's today actual temp. The current windchill is -34.
I hate to tell you...San Diego is currently at 73F.
You all are right, it's the f'ing money that keeps us here, the food is pretty good too. We have spoiled ourselves. I've been doing some serious soul searching though and I don't think I would have a problem giving up the big house with the big bills. My taxes are $950 a month where I live. I want to live in a slower and WARMER place. I own 10 acres in the Ozarks (out in the country) that is pretty relaxing, but I have to figure out how to pull the cash in. I'm a self employed IT professional so I should be able to figure something out. The wife isn't ready to throw the towel in yet. That's my big problem. When she gives me the green light - you will see tail lights.
Born and raised in the SW. Spent 2 (long) years in Chicago and those were the two worst years of my life, nasty weather, no mountains, did I mention nasty weather?
Get the hell out of there, money is no good when u can't enjoy it. Come to Arizona, anywhere in Arizona. Phx pays good!
only good thing is you can't beat the food anywhere in the usa ....
I have to give you that but you got some real drawbacks there, too. I left Det, which has similar good Yankee food but never have looked back. ATL - what food?
I'll be moving as soon as my wife retires, 3 or 4 years from now, assuming the real estate market recovers a bit. The question is where. I lived in AZ for part of my life and really like the desert, just a question of what my wife will tolerate. I would do Florida if I could, but I think the humidity would reek havoc on my arthritis, the knees are in bad shape.
Chicago born and raised, my father and I love the cold. I was just out in the snow Tuesday on the dirt bike and will probably be AMA Ice Racing on Sunday on a near by lake.
