I agree with Lenny on the packing burning out and getting loader. It also changes the tuneing when the packing burns out,not much but some.I have a set of the same things with true duals going on e-bay very shortly.I have installed 2 to 1's with Thrunderheader.Love that sound.By the way,for a couple hundred more over a pair of Thundercones, you can get 2 to1 with Thrunderheader and gain as much as 10 hp.Just my .02
This is the first time I've heard of the packing burning out - I just bought a used pair of V&H Oval slip ons - does that mean over time the packing will also burn out and it get louder? - I think they are loud enough already - I think I will put in a call to Vance and Hines to see what they say also - I'll post the reply I get from them.
I have BSO's on my 07FLHT. V.pleased with sound/performance.
V&H Technical were really helpful with set-up for FuelPak too.
Sound clips are on V&H website
Cheers,ride safe.
You made a good deal. I have them on my RKC and for the most part I'm tickled with them. There are times when I wish they were a bit louder but overall they are loud enough. The sound did change a bit when I went with dresser dual head pipes but it was only for the better. I can't speak to the packing burning out issue as mine have 36k on them and I can't tell any difference.
Randy, I'm currently running them on my '05 RK Custom. Good quality slip-ons. Packing did burn out on mine and they got a little louder. $100 is a great deal, considering the high quality of V&H pipes. I'm also in the market for a good 2 into 1 and considering the Thunderheader as well. Trying to get my pennies together.
