2009 Road King Classic - Novice Needs Advice

I've been VERY pleased with my '09 Road King. I'm 5'11/240 and find the seat and bars fit just fine for me actually. So I've changed nothing on the bike other than a few accessory items.
Get the bike and ride it awhile first. Then figure out what you want to do to it to make it more comfortable and also customize it's look to what YOU want it to be.
The adjustable Highway Pegs are a GREAT thing and one I'd suggest for anyone.

Cloud, what do the Heritage bars do for you? Lower? Closer to you? I'm going to HD tomorrow and if I remember, I'll sit on a Heritage.
I'm 6' 4" and didn't care for the stock RKC bars either. I bought HD's 'reduced reach' bars as an option when I purchased the bike. I've heard that RKC riders are going to the Hertiage bars more than once now. Naturally I've bought the reduced reach before knowing of this trend

Yes to all of the above. My riding posture is leaning too far forward so I'll be going with a Corbin seat and try the Heritage bars for starters. I have done the peddle extensions and my feet still overhang the front, which is ok. I'm thinking the new seat will put me back another inch.
At my height I'm looking about 3" over the windshield. Without the chrome fork deflectors I had a helmet buffeting issue above 100 kph(60 mph). At 125 kph it was intolerable. The deflectors reduced buffeting by 90%. I'm not worried about windshield ht. because I'm thinking the Corbin might set me lower by an inch I'm hoping.

Same height and you lost me on the stones...At any rate, I've done a lot, but I am also somewhat out of my mind and rather addicted to the bike, the forum, and the info. At any rate, I found the seat intolerable, the handlebars uncomfortable, and the footboards ill placed. Most of those mods will require solid research asking sitting riding. The footboards are relatively simply, just pm Soos. This stuff is so incredibly personal that you should ride and look and make changes as you deem it necessary. I have a friend who has kept his bike bone stock and he is thrilled. I was not thrilled with the sound or the performance so I changed the pipes, three times and it is now being upgraded to a 117 which will produce a bunch of torque where I would like it. I also found the storage lacking, and the windshield.... changed that stuff too. The lights were not bright enough for me and the spoked wheels although quiet nice to look at were a bear to clean... I could go on, but you will get bored. Now here is the real kicker, I loved the bike the day I took it home. Yet, now I love it even more. Good luck

This is the best $80 bucks I've ever spent...I absolutely love these bars! These bars will bring your hands up higher at an extremely comfortable position & give you about 3" more pullback, which will allow you to sit back with your hands up & out in front of you instead of sitting slightly slouched over with your hands down low. They have somewhat of an ape-like feel to them & the addictive comfort zone that they'll put you in will make you want to get a 12"-14" ape hanger soon. Or they may just be the perfect fit you...for $80 bucks you can't go wrong because at the very least they'll definately be an improvement from what you have now with the stock bars! These pics are kinda dark, but here's what they look like on mine...

I have the beach bars and love the control they give me. I also have the extended brake pedel. The mustang seat is a must for comfort. I'm 5'9" and have lowered the bike. Not that I needed it but it looks better. But like many have said above, just ride for awhile first then think what would make it more comfortable.
