Wink Where to park at a Motel

The wife and i were sitting here talking about some of our trips we went on last year, and i wanted to put a plug in for Drury Inns. We stayed at several of them this last year, and every one of them allowed us to park under the carport section of the motel. You know the part you drive under when you check in. i don't know if this is a company policy, or what, but they all tell us to park there, and it will be out of the weather, and under the lights. Have they done this for anyone else, or is it just my wifes charming attitude that gets us this spot?

Last year on my way to D.C. for law week, we stopped at a Holiday Inn and asked if we could put our bikes under the overhang, they said no problem. They even gave us extra large garbage bags in the morning to help wrap our luggage when it looked like we were going to ruin into storms.

I've done just that.......little mom & pop place in Waycross, GA insisted so I said WTF?

I've found most places will try to accomodate ya if you ask. Personally, I like the independents like the place in Waycross......where if not in the room, at least in front of it. Nothing like sitting in front of the room sharing a beer or 2 and swapping tales with your buds (and others that stop by) after a hard days' ride. Part of the fun when on the road for me! As far as the weather is concerned....been wet before and will be again

Talk to the manager. Sometimes they have a secured area (i.e.storage, etc).

It's usually just a matter of asking. Motels need the business and will often go out of their way to please a customer. Doesn't cost them anything either...

I have always had very good luck with this, always got concerned people willing to tell me the best places to park IE, can you pull it around back and we can lock it in our garage, you can park it right here in front of my window and I will watch it for you, You can park it on the grass in front of your room, or in some cases, lemme get you a handicapped room so you won't have trouble getting it in the door!
