I put my stock mirrors on the wife's 2001 Heritage. She had the old model rectangle mirrors and wanted the teardrop shape, so everything worked out well.

Anyone want to buy a set of old style mirrors?

Regards,

Bill

This is an old thread but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what to do with the stock mirror mounting holes now that I installed the fairing mount mirrors. I would like to install a chrome button plug but not sure what size.

I want to rig mine so that I can put a GPS on one side and maybe my Sirius receiver on the other - I have seen some interesting mounting options out there and I will be deciding over the winter what to do - I agree for a clean look you can't beat Chrome buttons but for me that real estate is too valuable to give up - Something needs to be hung there for long trips

First, to answer the original question - the fairing mount mirrors are, in my opinion, the best customizing bang-for-the-buck possible, they just looks awesome and make the stock mirrors looks like flimsy/ugly/eye sores.

I too had the exact same concerns: vibration and vision. I was totally surprised the the fairing mounts were better in both categories - better vision and LESS vibration (i.e. none). Sweet.

Now, that's a great question regarding plugging the leftover holes from the stock mirrors. I found some chrome plugs from a dealer, that fit quite perfect, with a little finesse and a jackniFe. Not sure what my "plugs" were originally designed for, but they appeared to be the type of plugs that would fit into the head of a larger sized allen bolt - know what I mean? Just ask a dealer if they have any chrome plugs that are about the size of the mirror hole, and see what you can figure out.

Necessity is the mother of invention!

I put them on my 03 standard and it was pretty easy, I now have themon my 05 Ultra and Mikes did the install. I think they open a huge range unlike the stock mirrors. I also think they look better

I put the faring mirrors on my 05 EG and the Ultra had them on it when I got it. They are great. I have a better field of vision and there is no vibration. Plus the bike looks more streamlined with them.

Someone was reading this thread, saw my XM Radio and sent me a PM about the instillation. This PM got deleted from my machine before I was able to respond, and before I saw who it was.

I am not ignoring you, I just don't have a way to respond, so if you would PM me again, I will get you the info you want.

Regards,

Bill
