Looks like a good idea. Could I do the same thing with a pair of boot socks? (Two pair if I doubled them?)

Just go look around at Lowes. You can find a bunch of different zip up pouches. Save a bunch of money.

I saw them at the dealership the other day, and they are nice, I'm not sure if they are $70 nice.

I have em' and they are great but I didn't pay 70.00
for them. Bought them in Daytona I think for for 50.00.
They hold a ton of tools,etc. and take up no space in
the saddlebags. I love em'. No regrets.

Do they work with saddle bag liners? Or do the liners make the voids too small?

Put them under the liners. Then when you remove the liners to carry your clothes etc, the storage pouches (and whatever tools etc you put in them) stay in the saddle bags.
