Has anyone had warranty work done to their HK radio with an after market amp installed?
Just wondering if having the amp would void the warranty.

 

They would have to prove the AMP caused the problem with the radio for it to not be covered.

They could make it difficult but the Magnuson Ferguson Act spells it out.

You could just remove the AMP prior to bringing it in.

 

I did and there was no problem.
At least there was no problem once I convinced my local shop the problem wasn't my amp.

They ordered a radio and it came in in less than a week, then they changed out the radios and all was fine. Except the mechanic got screwed out of some time. I think HD only paid him for 1/2 hour of work.

 

removing the amp is the best idea. As far as I know they don't even service the radio. They just switch it out and you get a different one.
