Back in the old days (02) I completely disassembled my Electra Glide and powder coated or painted everything but the lites, gauges and motor black. This was before Harley or anyone else offered black parts. When I went to Sturgis in 03 I was swamped with people asking questions and taking photos. By 06 every other bike going down the street was blacked out. If you want to be unique you might look at some other options.

I did powder coat the gauge bezzels, and the light housings just not the lenses. I had the Rhinehart True Duals Black Ceramic coated. I disassembled footboards, grips, pegs, handlebars, even hardware and had them all powder coated. Now you can buy almost everything off the shelf.

Ha.....I Just went to a stock 08. I realized I would rather be riding than spending time in the garage. It was fun then but I am older now....well, I feel a lot older.

I live in WA state............Have you looked at the weather channel lately? 2 weeks of snow/ice, and now were looking at major flooding. All I can do is spend time looking at it sitting in the garage! I have a good 2-3 months before I get really riding again

I am trying a photo....

The hardest part was the Tour Pak latches. They have a lot of little parts and the heat of powder coating seemed to warp them a little. I had to do a lot of careful trial and error bending to get them to work right.

leohd....I had that same air cleaner on mine. I was on the road in Nebraska and the bracket broke. It bounced down the road at about 70mph and hit my wife's bike. Luckily she swerved and it just clipped her left side bending her clutch cable and breaking the lever. I don't know how it missed her hand. I still shake when I think of what could have happened if it had hit her in the head or body. We found it in the ditch and I still have it scuffed up with road rash.

I can almost guarantee that you must not have used the devonator II intake with the maliair filter, it is solid as can be, a lil loctite goes a long way. I never had a problem.

Here's one I just got done with that is partially blacked out. I think the black/chrome contrast turned out good.
