Transmission Pulley

Transmission Pulley
I brought my bike in for a 10K service this last week. While there we disscussed the the 103kit option. I was seriously thinking of doing this up grade. The tech there suggested I try changing the output shaft pulley on my trans from the 32 tooth pulley to a 31 tooth. This would effectively give me more response in HP and torque. The cost of the pulley was $183.00 + overnight shipping because they had the bike already there and in for service. My Christmas present was a chrome inner primary so the labor was already being spent there and the pully had to come off anyway. So I said go ahead. After all was said and done they re-Dyno'd it. The rear wheel horse power increased by 7 3/4 and the torque increased by 10.5. Numbers now are 78 HP and 90.69 tq. I was amazed. Granted I am not getting 103 numbers but this increase is just enough for me at a fraction of the cost. Throttle response is much better. I am a happy guy. This was a Baker part by the way. I did not have to change my belt but was told that I probably would have to change it at some point because I didn't have the same amount of adjustment in it that I had before. I asked when that might be and my answer was in the 100k range. With that said I'm not even worried about it. This change is similiar to what was done on the 09's but they changed the rear pulley. I have not put a lot of milage on this change yet but it felt great. I am hoping my gas milage gets better too. We'll see. I will post an up date as I see how this works out.
Below is the page from the Baker Web Site.
30-tooth or 31-tooth h-dŽ 2006-up cruise drive™ pulleys
Get more oomph from a throttle-wick on your 2007 stock Harley-Davidson FL. Our 30-Tooth or 31-Tooth transmission pulleys effectively ‘gear down’ the bike to optimize the performance in two major ways.
First, you’ll get more torque and power from the take-off gears. This remedies the common criticism of the new bikes being a little sluggish off the line for some riders.
Second, you can utilize the 6th gear at a slower, more reasonable highway speed for a more comfortable RPM. These pulleys bring the cruising gears down a notch for finessing your ride.
Performance details are as follow:
Increase Rear Wheel Torque (30T- 7% Increase / 31T- 3% Increase)
Cruising RPM 6th gear (75MPH) 30T @ 2830 / 31T @ 2756
No more lugging the motor in 6th gear at lower cruising speeds (60-70 MPH)

The speedometer doesn't seem to have changed but now that you raised the point I'll keep an eye on it. The gas milage is another issue. I filled it up Saturday and the weather was crappy. I only rode long enough to get a feel for throttle response and rpm change. I will hopefully get more of a chance to ride it this weekend and I'll make not of any changes I find.
