Default Sticker Removal From Painted Surface

Guys,

I recently purchased a tour pak which has a few bumper stickers placed on it. I've read a few posts of utilizing a hair drier and WD-40 to remove stickers off of forks and metal surfaces. Would this be a safe approach to use on painted surfaces as well? If not, any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Blow dryer works great! Just heat it up and start peeling from a corner with the gun keeping it warm. You can also get an adhesive, mark and wax remover that will remove residual glue w/o harming the paint made by 3M. Piece of cake usually.

+1 on the 3M adhesive remover. I use it on hot rods I build to take off old weatherstrip glue. I get it from local automotive paint supply house.

You can also use an eraser, used for pen stripe removal.

A heat gun/hair dryer and some adhesive remover will work best on plastic or fiberglass panels.A heat gun utilized on the inside works the best as is softens the glue rather than the vynel. If youve never used a heat gun on a painted part, stick with the hair dryer. It will take longer but it works.I would not recomend the eraser on any plastic or fiberglass painted part. The heat transfer created causes delamination much faster than on metal.Heres a good adhasive remover most auto supply's carry.

WD-40 will also work. Be sure clean off all of the residue with mild soap and water. A coat of wax will also help.

Just hope that they weren't on there for a long time or you will see how much the paint has faded around where the stickers were. You'll have a nice bright section of paint in the shape of the sticker.
