You have a great bike, good choice. Make sure you listen/ride with the pipes you think you want. Around town, loud is fun...for a while, till you start doing some serious riding down Route 66, then the noise can be more than you want. You are on the right path IMO. Stage 1, pipes, then if it sis a SERT/PClll/dyno tune, then...whatever you go with...be happy.... as there is no limit when it comes to modifications IMO, and the more you make the more you need to be sure that other componts will survive and remain dependable like they were engineered for.

I went with the SE performance race mufflers, SE air cleaner and stage 1 download. You'll be looking at $600 - $800 depending on what kind of deal the dealer has to offer. I saved just over 200.00 because I bought everything last year during a sale.
If you want noise only, Skip the air cleaner and down load. go with mufflers only.

I agree with Harvo. I also have the stge 1 with the harley download and the bike runs flawless.
ORIGINAL: Harvo

I know a lot of the guys here are going with the SERT or PC. I went with an Arlen Ness Big Sucker air cleaner and the Harley touring mufflers and the basic Stage one download and couldn't be happier. Bike starts great runs great with no problems so far. If I ever decide to have the 95 kit done then I will go with the SERT download.

If you want just a little more sound to get that Harley rumble, but not real loud then you might look at Harley's touring mufflers. I found mine on E-Bay for a really decent price.

Stage 1 and slip ons will get you in the ball park. After that you will probably need the SERT or PCIII to get the whole package working together. Later you can add True Duals or cams (both) if you want to continue to increase performance.

My bike had the touring mufflers on it when i bought it. I thought it had stock mufflers. One short season of that and it was SE Perf. mufflers. very happy with the complete stage 1 package.
I work 3rd shift and when I fired her up in the parking ramp she sounded oh so sweet, took off inside the ramp and while still in 1st gear i backed off on the throttle. "Beautifull Music" . Hope all them dayshifters that were walking in at that time had ringing ears for the rest of the day!

rbonated or fuel infected? For carbonated rejet the c arb. For fuel infected a software down load will help. You have not said how much is the right amount of sound. I ended up with superTrapps.

I just did a road trip of 1650 miles on my Road King with stock pipes and I'll tell you that your ears are going to be ringing even with stock pipes if you plan to do serious touring. I can't imagine what louder pipes would do, but after 300 miles yesterday, my ears are still ringing. Some people say to get loud pipes and wear ear plugs. So why pay $500 to $1700 for louder mufflers/pipes so you have to put in 75 cent earplugs?
