Default Need a littel electrical help please

Santa brought me a tour pack detach kit and an amplified antenna for my 07 EGC. I installed the tour pack docking hardware last night, and tonight I'm going to install the antenna in the batwing. The antenna looks to be pretty simple, but came with zero instructions. It has the standard antenna male plug that goes into the radio, along with a very thin wire labeled +12V. There is no ground wire, but there is a statement on the package saying "radio must be grounded properly", which I assume is the case with my standard moco radio. Where would you attach the wire labeled +12V? I've thought about the accessory switch since it does nothing on a EGC until it is needed for add-ons. Any better ideas, and/or suggestions?

I havent done any work on bike radios yet but I would just use your meter to find the ignition wire @ the back of the radio.

Wasn't that just a barrel of fun?!

Three options come to mind:

1. Splice into the O/R wire (ignition switched) of your ACC harness. The O wire is ignition and ACC-switched, which wouldn't be suitable for this. This will not alter the function of the ACC switch if you want to use it in the future, except the 15A circuit capacity will be reduced by the load imposed by the antenna, whatever that is.

2. Splice into cig-lighter wire (colored). (Black is ground.)

3. HDI plug near the headlight connector. The 12V (ignition switched) connector is covered from the factory with a red cap (ground has black). This is a blade connector, female IIRC, so you can just install a connector on your antenna 12V wire and plug it in.

Id wire it to the cigarette lighter plug. As for the ground on the antenna, it should ground through the radio, meaning you wont have to add anything additional there.

Thanks guys for all of the suggestions. I didn't get to the task last night as planned, but I plan on hitting it in just a few minutes this a.m.

Anywhere inside the fairing that works when the ignition switch is in the ACC position.
