Welcome to the dark side. I just laugh at the youngster who think I'm riding a Geezer Glide. Little do they know how great the ride can be. Now don't tell them when they're old they will understand.

I own an 07 Ultra too. I did add the IDS at the first 1000 mile service. It contributes a bunch to a smooth engine running at lower rpms. While I don't accelerate in sixth from below 2200 rpm, it will cruise at that nicely. I have over 23000 miles on it now and it is stock except for the IDS and some bling. I see no reason to "wake it up". It seems plenty awake for me.

Congrats on your SWEET ride!
I feel the sameway about what I was missing years ago.
As far as your question on the IDS at least, seems to be the ticket for our year, standard on 08's & 09's. Only problems I've read so far is the bearing. But that doesn't appear to be widespread.
The Ignition modifier - don't know?
Harley finally changed the gear ratio's on the 09's, but that doesn't help us. We're stuck with the 6th gear issue. Personally I don't use it until about 65 - 70 mph and just learned to live with it. Although some here say the IDS allows 6th gear change at lower speeds.

Congrats! I am a "Geezer" at 30 years old and became one at 27. Will always have a bagger as I have lot's of stuff to bring to work at times and it is obviously great to travel with especially with the radio! Sure I get commented on as to why I have an old mans bike, but I've never looked back
