Take a look at the replacment speakers that are availible and you will see that they are also made in China.
The difference is the aftermarket ones are made to better specs.

 

I looked....Hogtunes made in Canada....granted not USA, but much better specs than anything I've seen out of China. And they won't poison me with lead hopefully

 

Are they actually made there or assembled?

I bought the J&M speakers. I bounced back and forth for several days about Hog Tunes or J&M. I like the little tweeter on the J&M and thought it might give better sound. I was wrong. I hate the J&M. The sound quality is tinney and I can't get it adjusted out. I am not AT ALL happy with the J&M. Don't waste your money. Wish I had bought the HT. Live and Learn, I guess...

Well, they are much better quality still though....
