For this project you need a good center punch and a drill with 1/8, 3/16, and17/64 drill bits. You just remove the front fender, center punch the original rivets and step drill the rivets out, the stock brackets fall off and you bolt the new brackets on with the stainless hardware provided in the kit.
The only extra things I did was to paint the new brackets black, I polished the stainless steel hardware so it looked like chrome and replaced the mild steel spacers that came with the kit with a nice set of chrome spacers from the local hardware store.
It both lowers the fender and moves it back so it fits the tire properly.
The whole job takes 1-1 1/2 hrs to do.

I still have the fender mentioned earlier in this thread, if anyone is interested.

jag-

thanks, looks good. glad to see that you don't have to drill any new holes in the fender. i have seen a couple of kits that require that. drilling out rivets i don't mind, but i don't want to add any new holes if i don't have to.

So does anybody else have any pics or thoughts on any of these kits??? I'm leaning towards the Todd Hollins kit because its cheaper than the Aardvark kit and I can't see a big difference between the 2 aside from price. Ideally I'd like one that helps to tilt the fender forward some but I'm thinking that wont happen unless its a weld on kit or you have to drill new holes, neither one of those ideas am I too fond of.

Thanks

MOTRHD, sorry I didn't take your fender. It's a great deal with smooth rivets and the nativecustom bracket welded in already. Good luck.

They aren't tipping the fender forward they are moving it back to make it fit the tire better.

They should be lowering the fender and moving it back both. The proper set up is to have the lower line of the fender level front to rear.

Mine is from native custom, I got it off e-bay a couple of years ago already done. I like the no rivet look. I added the fender tip light back recently, just think it looks better on my bike. I might have gone with the bitchin brackets though, I don't like the bolt on ones. Which ever way you go, it will look good....

I am planning on lower my fender as well. I was looking at the kit offered by TWR http://www.twrbaggersplus.com/front_fender_lowerin.html
